Brighter Days for Baltimore Youth
In 2011 the Founder, Jamais E. Burts loss her brother to gun violence. She vowed to create something to give youth access to a safe space and keep them off the streets. Bro Code started as a one day event in June 2017 that was geared toward young men. She rented out a gaming lounge and had a panel of three men to include; Walt from VH1's Black Ink Crew to come and empower young men through an open panel discussion. The young men were given free haircuts, played unlimited games, received free t-shirts, and food. The event was such a success there was an overwhelming response for a part two. After realizing there was a great need in Baltimore to keep youth engaged in positive activities Bro Code Baltimore Inc. was launched. The one day event quickly became a full blown community organization not just servicing the needs of young men but all youth in Baltimore City.
